The stops
- 1
Madrid
The Prado at opening, tapas in La Latina at night, and an early start south.
- 2
Toledo
Christian, Muslim and Jewish Spain stacked on one granite hill above the Tagus — El Greco's home turf.
- 3
Córdoba
The Mezquita's candy-striped arches are the single most surprising interior in Spain; May's patio festival drowns the town in flowers.
- 4
Seville
Alcázar gardens, tapas standing up, flamenco in Triana — allow more time than you think.
Good to know
Andalusia in July–August regularly passes 40 °C — spring and autumn are far kinder. Book Córdoba's Mezquita and Seville's Alcázar online ahead. The A-4 is fast and free; Toledo's old town is pedestrian-hostile, so use the escalators from the ring car parks.
