The route at a glance
- Athens — 1 night
- Delphi — 1 night
- Kalabaka — 2 nights
The stops
- 1
Athens
Acropolis at 8 am, Plaka for dinner, and out past Thebes on the E75 next morning.
- 2
Delphi
The sanctuary tumbles down Parnassus with eagles overhead — the museum's bronze Charioteer is worth the trip alone.
- 3
Kalabaka
Meteora's town base: six monasteries on sandstone towers, sunset from Psaropetra viewpoint, and rock-climbing if the stairs weren't enough.
Good to know
Greek motorway tolls are frequent but small — keep coins/card handy. Monasteries enforce dress codes (long skirts/trousers provided at the door) and each closes one day a week, so check the rota if you want all six. Spring wildflowers or October light beat July heat on the rock stairs.
